Description:
As the Crow Flies
explores the rich tapestry of Indian artistic traditions. Curated by Srila Chatterjee, this exhibition creates a unique meeting place for different generations, mediums, and artistic philosophies. Traditional folk forms‚ cherished works by contemporary masters‚ and audacious modernist pieces come together to make the city of Bangalore a hotspot for the meeting of the customary and the contemporary․
Traditional folk lineages such as the Bhil‚ Gond‚ Sohrai‚ Warli and Odisha & Bengal Pattachitra abound among contemporary painters‚ printmakers‚ collagists‚ and wood and clay artists․

Tigers‚ elephants‚ owls‚ fish‚ plants and forests are depicted using watercolors‚ acrylics‚ linocuts‚ wood and clay with natural colors․ Each artwork has a different representation of nature‚ including it as a sacred dwelling‚ as a mythical landscape‚ as a beloved memory‚ or simply as an aesthetic object‚ a work of art that is perfect in its form and beauty․

In addition to the artworks on view, the exhibition will feature two special interactive sessions.

On August 28 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, join Srila Chatterjee and Anupama Sekhar for Why Collect Art?, an insightful conversation exploring the joys and possibilities of building an art collection.

-On August 29 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Shibani Nayak will host an Abstract Art Workshop, offering an engaging, hands-on art-making experience designed for young artists aged 7 to 14 years.
