Rolling out the red carpet, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Tribute Awards was held in a virtual ceremony, hosted by Canadian TV presenters Chloe Wilde and Tyrone Edwards.

Started out by an annual fundraiser event, the Tribute Awards honour the film industry’s outstanding contributors for their achievements, recognizing leading members, acting talent, directorial expertise and new talent.

The evening honourees, Kate Winslet and Sir Anthony Hopkins were the recipients of the TIFF Tribute Actor Award. Jodie Foster presented the award to Kate Winslet, who was seen in romantic drama ‘Ammonite’, prayed for everyone’s lives which has changed in the last six months.

 

 

Anthony Hopkin, starred in the drama ‘The Father’, was presented this award by Olivia Colman. He dedicated this award to the frontline workers all over the world.

 

 

Making the evening musical, TIFF Tribute Awards also featured a performance from Shawn Mendes who sang a stripped-down version of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Love’s in Need of Love Today’. The American singer also spoke about the Shawn Mendes Foundation Changemaker Award, which will be given to a film that tackles issues of social change.
