Ranwar Village’s newest café inhabits a heritage home seen on screen, offering a timeless place to gather, eat, and simply be.
Bombay has always known how to hold people. When debates stretched past midnight in the Iranian cafés, when seafront benches were claimed by the same families every evening, when neighbours became witnesses to each other’s lives in the building compounds, these were simply places that stayed open long enough for the city to wander in.
And continuing that story is Everhome Café, nestled inside a 130-year-old bungalow in Ranwar Village. A house that has held layers of cultural life and memory that doesn’t need a plaque to make itself felt, and one that has also quietly lived many lives on screen as the backdrop of several Bollywood cinematic shoots. Carefully restored and opened as a shared commons for the city, the house pairs honest, familiar food, unhurried breakfasts, serious coffee, warm bowls and house-baked desserts, with a space that speaks of belonging.
The Space
The space is shaped by decades of creative life, neighbourhood memory, and a deep connection to the arts: built to be something timeless, where small imperfections only add to the character over time.
The restoration of the bungalow was guided by enhancement. Original wooden frames, arched doorways, cast iron railings, old latches, and iron hinges were left exactly as aged as found. The single significant intervention was opening up the ceiling to create a glass skylight, flooding the house with natural light and revealing a soaring 30-foot height that most spaces could only dream of.
As you enter, a wooden staircase with dark treads worn with age draws you up. At the top, an open verandah landing offers the first pause and take in the house before stepping further in. From here, the espresso bar sets the tone with the smell of freshly brewed coffee carrying through, before the space opens out into a series of connected seating areas.
The house holds 90 seats indoors, unfolding room by room, each with its own mood. At the centre is the main community room, open to the sky, anchored by a large table beneath a handcrafted wrought-iron chandelier. Warm ochre walls carry hand-painted murals referencing old Bandra, softened by climbing plants and suspended greenery, while light from the skylight shifts across the walls throughout the day.
Beyond it lies the garden room, more intimate, more playful, with a hand-painted mural of a staircase climbing through flowering vines, a ceiling of suspended planters and string lights, and a travel wall anchored by a reclaimed door painted with the words “Fewer Things, More Experiences”.
The long gathering room runs alongside like a gallery, open and flexible, connecting directly to the outdoor terrace where 10 seats overlook Ranwar Village Road below.
Throughout the house, nothing has been bought for appearance alone. A tap sourced from an 18th-century Portuguese church. Cabinets restored from old homes. Wood reclaimed from the bungalow itself, repurposed into furniture and frames. Objects collected from travels around the world carry a story, each placed as if it had always belonged here. The more you walk through Everhome, the more you find. That, too, was entirely intentional.
“We wanted people to feel a drastic cut from city life the moment they walk in,” says Atil Pavesha, Co-Founder, Everhome Café, who conceived and designed the space. “Mumbai moves fast. Everhome is built to of er a pause. Somewhere warm, familiar, and personal within the city. The more you walk through the house, the more you discover. We designed it that way on purpose.”
The Menu
The menu follows the same philosophy as the space: grounded and curated for reliability. Something you want to return to.
Everhome’s House Rustic Bread sits at the heart of the menu, light, airy, and generously infused with rosemary. With its soft crumb and delicate structure, it effortlessly complements everything it’s served with, yet is just as irresistible on its own, the kind of bread you find yourself reaching for again and again!
Breakfast anchors the day, built around a thoughtful egg menu served with Everhome’s house rustic bread. Turkish eggs with garlic yoghurt and chilli olive oil, classic and Butter & Garlic Cream scrambles, omelettes, and more familiar comforts like quinoa poha and paratha pockets. The sweeter side brings in French toast, pancakes, overnight oats, and parfaits, while open toasts on sourdough feature toppings like avocado, burrata, and barbecue chicken. Sandwiches, served on a choice of sourdough or multigrain, range from a house grilled cheese to roasted vegetables, chicken pesto, and smashed lamb with sharp cheddar.
Moving into the afternoon and evening, the menu expands into small plates, fresh salads, and warm bowls curated for comfort. From guacamole and red pesto hummus with house rustic bread to Mediterranean and quinoa-based salads, the offering balances light and hearty. Larger plates include pastas, soba noodle bowls, and more robust dishes like slow-cooked keema (soya, chicken, or lamb), Goan-style vindaloo, citrus piri piri grilled chicken, and crusted fish with rice. Bakes and desserts include freshly baked croissants, a gluten-free Blueberry Almond Cake, the house-special Dark Chocolate Flourless Cake, and soft serve alongside more indulgent options.
The drinks menu spans house specialty coffees infused with natural nuts and spices, including the Smoked Cinnamon Cappuccino, Bourbon Vanilla Latte, and Roasted Hazelnut Mocha, alongside Cinnamon Cold Brew & Tonic. The offering is rounded out with smoothies, fresh juices, coolers, kombuchas, and a dedicated matcha selection.
Just when it feels complete, the freshly churned ice cream swirl lingers on–the kind of finish that satisfies the soul.
“Good food is food you don’t have to think about, you just know you want it again. That idea shaped the menu from the ground up. It follows a way of eating that feels natural. Something that feels familiar, complete, and easy to return to. More than anything, we wanted the food to sit gently within the space – unhurried, grounded, and something you can truly settle into.” — Dipti Gohel, Co-Founder, Everhome Café
