A Fringe is an open-access event, meaning that none of the performers is required to audition to take part; they simply apply for space, do their own promotion, and hope an audience likes what they do. This space for creativity gives artists the opportunity to tell their stories in their own way. Traditionally, the center of the Fringe is in front of St Giles’ Cathedral on the Royal Mile, almost directly opposite the entrance to Cheval Old Town Chambers.
