Collection note

Loom’s Lullaby — The Song of the Loom. A quiet tribute to the rhythm of craftsmanship. In shades of deep indigo and luminous white, each piece reflects the harmony between tradition and modern elegance. Threads of memory, movement, and heritage come alive on the runway—where every garment carries the poetry of the loom.

Maku Textiles

Born in Kolkata in 2011, Maku Textiles is a contemporary clothing label deeply rooted in textile heritage and craftsmanship. Founded by Santanu Das during his time at the National Institute of Design, the brand reimagines traditional weaving practices for a modern audience.

Working closely with skilled artisans from rural communities, Maku creates garments using handwoven textiles, natural dyes, and Azo free dyes. With a commitment to authenticity, sustainability, and refined simplicity, the label celebrates the beauty of traditional craft while reaching a growing global audience.

Philosophy

“Maku’s philosophy is less about making clothes and more about using clothing as a medium to preserve craft, honor artisans, slow consumption, and reconnect people with the cultural and material history embedded in textiles. Fashion, in this view, becomes an act of stewardship—where every garment tells the story of its fiber, its maker, and the traditions that shaped it.”
