Artist Poonam Bhatnagar’s ‘Odyssey’, presented by KHUSHII Art and curated by Uma Nair, opened at Bikaner House on Wednesday, bringing together a compelling body of works shaped by memory, travel, mythology, nature and the human experience.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Jai Madan, cricketer Kapil Dev, and Rohit Kumar, Resident Commissioner, Bikaner House, who joined the artist and curator for the opening.
The Odyssey, brings together this artistic journey as one continuous exploration. The exhibition traces her movement through abstraction, landscapes, peacocks and forts, Buddha and finally mythological imagery.
A recurring ringed orb becomes a visual thread through these different stages, taking on a new meaning and form with each phase. The exhibition is ultimately about a personal journey—how one idea, one form or one feeling can transform over time while still remaining connected to where it began.
For Bhatnagar, painting is not about knowing exactly where the journey will end. It is about discovering it along the way.
“I don’t pre-plan the final painting. I begin with a feeling, a line or a form, and the painting slowly reveals itself to me.”
Through The Odyssey, she invites viewers to do the same—to slow down, look closely and allow their own interpretations to emerge.
