Both artists were a part of its inaugural compilation, ‘Nyima Vol.1’; releases and European tour scheduled for 2027

April 2026 – Nyima Records, one of Femme Music’s flagship sub-labels that champions English-language singer-songwriters from India, has announced the addition of two artists to its roster. Singer-songwriters Tabitha Kagoo and Ro Maiti – who were also on the label’s inaugural compilation Nyima Vol.1 – will deliver two EPs and an album respectively on the label, scheduled for release in 2027.
Femme Music, co-founded by artist and producer Sanoli Chowdhury and UK music industry professional Vinod Gadher, is India’s first independent label dedicated entirely to female artists.
Inspired by the feminist ethos of the 90s Riot Grrrl movement, Femme Music was conceptualised to create an ecosystem where female voices lead, own their narratives, and build sustainable careers — in India and globally. Nyima Records was born out of that philosophy, to give Indian talent the space to grow, and a global audience.
“One of the most meaningful ways we’re supporting our artists is by giving them both the resources and the platform they need to grow, and release music,” explains Sanoli, who is also an audio engineer in addition to being a producer. “We invest in their projects from start to finish, guiding them through every stage of the process. We also curate and organise shows with our artists at the centre of everything we do, ensuring they have consistent opportunities to perform and connect with audiences,” she adds.
The Bangalore-based Tabitha has been singing in a church choir since she was 10 and has developed a musical vocabulary that is rooted in simple yet meaningful storytelling. Her reflective single ‘Come Sit By My Bed’ on Nyima Vol.1 gave listeners a glimpse into her artistic personality, and which will be further explored over the two EPs she is contracted to release.
“My upcoming EP brings together songs written over half a decade, tracing a deeply personal journey of growth, reflection, and understanding,” shares Tabitha. “It captures a spectrum of lived experiences – joy and sorrow, regret and pride – without separating them into neat categories. Instead, each track holds space for emotional complexity,” she adds.
Rooted in Mumbai, Ro Maiti’s music draws from soul, RnB, electronic, and alternative worlds into an amalgamation of sounds that’s distinctly her own. Her songwriting is an extension of her visual practice, her sense of rhythm, and her curiosity about emotion, magic, and presence. She has been releasing music since 2018 but is reinvigorated with Nyima’s mission statement.
“Even after years of releasing music independently, this feels like a debut in the truest sense — my first time with a label, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that it’s Nyima,” shares Rohini, adding. “Excited to get this out when my existential dread feels at an all-time high. The album brings together reimagined older tracks alongside brand new ones, but at its heart it carries what I’ve always done: take songs I first built as performance pieces and open them up into their own narrative and conceptual universes.”
For Nyima, the next 12 months is as much about laying a blueprint as it is about encouraging and uncovering talent.
“For Nyima, the next year is about turning momentum into structure, with a new compilation, a run of EPs, and the launch of our Femme Intern Programme to build a national and South Asian A&R network,” states Gadher, giving an overview of the label’s plans, adding, “This will lead into India’s Femme Power European tour in January 2027, taking our artists to cities like London, Berlin and Paris, with European booking already in place.”
