The first edition of the fashion week in Delhi in the new year will be an exciting one especially for the young talent in the industry with The Fashion Design Council of India and 6Degree, a leading fashion platform, collaborating to launch Gen-Z, a platform for young aspiring designers of India at the Autumn Winter’19 season of India Fashion Week to be held in New Delhi, in March 2019.
The need for fresh talent in a competitive industry like fashion is of paramount importance. As industry watchers point out, even established brands need to constantly work towards sustaining and growing their brand value to cater to the ever-growing fashion needs of the consumer. To keep fashion fresh and relevant and evolving, there is a constant need for young design talent to bring in young sensibilities that have a newness and diversity in design. However for such young labels to be able to create a mark in the fashion sector, it is important that they find the right mentoring and market access which is exactly what this collaboration aims to provide,
Gen-Z thus is an initiative by 6Degree along with FDCI at the India Fashion Week, which will allow young talent to showcase their designs on a global scale and to be noticed by the right audience.
Eminent stalwarts from the fashion industry will select five budding designers, to showcase their collections at this esteemed fashion event. The designers will then go through a period of mentorship by leading personalities from the fashion industry, through their design journey to the grand platform of India Fashion Week.
Gen-Z will be available for designers who are a year into their label. Post their selected designers will be groomed by industry leaders, showcased on India’s largest fashion platform and managed by 6Degree to give their label a head-start in business and brand growth.
