The World Environment Day is approaching on 5th June, with the Covid-19 pandemic creating a disruption in the world around us, it’s time to take a step closer towards protecting our surroundings.

ASICS SportStyle recognises its need to fulfill the commitment for runners achieving a sound mind in a sound body™, and ultimately creating a sound earth. That’s why we’ve committed to taking action: by reducing CO2 emissions, by making sustainable products in part from recycled materials, and bringing the benefits of movement to those who need it most.

This new planet-friendly Earth Day Pack has been created using a circular manufacturing approach that saw around five tons of textile waste, the equivalent of 25,000 t-shirts, recycled into new shoes. Each piece in the new Earth Day Pack features a sunflower logo as well as an intricate seed graphic representing ASICS’ ongoing commitment to planting the seeds of a brighter future. The two arrows in the centre of the emblem denote the brand’s ambition to help build a circular economy.

Please find below the details on the ASICS SportStyle products for your reference:

1.The GEL-LYTE™ III OG EARTH DAY

The GEL-LYTE™ III OG EARTH DAY sneaker emerges once again with its original shape and construction that it featured in the early 90s. Replacing the retro textiles on the upper with recycled materials and eco-leather overlays, this shoe also features neutral hues that require less water, inks, and dyes for the coloring process. The Sockliner is produced with a solution dyeing process that reduces water usage and carbon emissions. Maintaining its split-tongue application that initially debuted on the GEL-LD RACER™ shoe, this offering incorporates its signature GEL® technology cushioning unit in the heel to improve shock absorption and help deliver lasting comfort.

At least 20% of the primary material of the shoe’s upper is made with recycled materials to reduce waste and carbon emissions

The shoe’s upper is also made with recycled materials, while the sockliner is produced with a solution dyeing process that reduces carbon emissions and water usage. Incorporating responsive tooling that’s inspired by our running collection, this technology helps create a hybrid aesthetic that’s complemented with a performance look and functionality.
