Mumbai, September 2026 – Cafe Srinivasa was born out of a simple craving: to bring the true taste of Bangalore’s breakfast table to Mumbai. The idea was never merely to recreate the food, but to capture the experience that surrounds it: familiar, unpretentious and prepared with care, without shortcuts. That vision first came to life in Tardeo in 2024, where Cafe Srinivasa quickly found a devoted following among South Mumbai’s South Indian food lovers. Building on the success of its first outlet, the brand is now set to open its second outpost in Vile Parle, bringing its distinctly Karnataka-style breakfast and everyday dining experience to a new neighbourhood.
Cafe Srinivasa has never been about reinventing South Indian food. Its philosophy is simpler: to serve these dishes as they are meant to be enjoyed, pure vegetarian, unmistakably Karnataka and faithful to the flavours and traditions of the region. From the fermentation of the batter to the tempering of the chutneys, the focus remains on getting the fundamentals right. It is this consistency and attention to detail that has helped the Tardeo café become a neighbourhood favourite rather than a passing novelty, a place where regulars return not necessarily in search of something new, but for the comfort of knowing their favourites will taste exactly as they should.
The inspiration for Cafe Srinivasa came from founder Naman Jain’s time spent exploring some of Bangalore’s most iconic eateries. What stayed with him was not only the food, but the culture around it. In Bangalore, breakfast is less an occasion and more an everyday ritual, a familiar part of the city’s rhythm, enjoyed without ceremony. It was this sense of everyday dining that Mr. Jain wanted to bring to Mumbai: a place where authentic Karnataka food could be enjoyed regularly, whether over a quick breakfast, a leisurely meal or a traditional cup of filter coffee.
“We’re excited about the Vile Parle outlet. It’s a neighbourhood with a real appetite for genuine South Indian food, and we wanted to bring that experience closer to more people across the city. This outlet has its own space and its own energy, and we can’t wait to welcome guests and make it their new regular breakfast spot,” shares Naman Jain, Founder, Cafe Srinivasa.
The Vile Parle outlet will retain the menu that has established Cafe Srinivasa’s identity in Tardeo, with its signature dishes making the move across the city. The benne masala dosa, generously finished with ghee, captures the richness and familiarity of Bangalore’s iconic breakfast culture, while soft, pillowy idlis are served with sambar and freshly prepared coconut chutney. Crisp, golden medu vadas and traditionally brewed filter coffee, frothed tall and served in a classic steel tumbler and davara, complete the breakfast staples.
Beyond the classics, the menu extends into a selection of uttapams and Karnataka-inspired mains, including Paneer Ghee Roast served with neer dosa, Malabar Paneer, Appam Stew, Bisi Bele Bath and biryanis. While the menu offers variety, the underlying philosophy remains consistent: food rooted in the flavours, techniques and traditions of the South, bringing the familiarity of a Bangalore breakfast table to Mumbai.
While the food remains firmly rooted in the Cafe Srinivasa identity, the Vile Parle outlet has been designed to have a character of its own. Helmed by designer Jay Shah, the space draws on the visual language of the South through considered regional details, while deliberately steering clear of clichés. Warm, understated and comfort-led, the design reflects the same no-frills sensibility that defines the café’s approach to food. With a capacity of approximately 30 guests, the space is designed equally for a quick solo breakfast, an informal catch-up or a leisurely meal with friends and family.
The Vile Parle outlet builds on the Cafe Srinivasa experience while establishing a distinct identity of its own, remaining anchored in the same food, philosophy and sense of familiarity. A second home with its own personality, while remaining anchored in the same food, philosophy and sense of familiarity.
At its heart, Cafe Srinivasa is about preserving the everyday pleasure of authentic South Indian food. Its commitment to Karnataka’s culinary traditions from the fermentation of its batter and the tempering of its chutneys to the brewing of its filter coffee is what gives the café its distinctive character. With its second outlet in Vile Parle, Cafe Srinivasa continues to bring the flavours and rituals of a Bangalore breakfast to more of Mumbai, one dosa, idli and tumbler of filter coffee at a time.
