Venue: Kalamkaar Gallery, Bikaner House, New Delhi
Artist and art educator Remya Brijesh’s solo exhibition Voyage of the Soul invites viewers into a deeply personal cartography—one that traces the contours of memory, belonging, and the quiet pulse of life as it unfolds across time. Curated by Georgina Maddox, this solo exhibition is not merely a collection of canvases; it is a lyrical unfolding of her emotional terrain, where the past and present meet in gentle dialogue. The exhibition is slotted from 27th November to 3rd December, 2025 at Kalamkaar Gallery, Bikaner House, New Delhi.
Born into an artistic family steeped in tradition and devotion, Remya’s creative journey began with the temple murals of Kerala. These sacred wall paintings, with their intricate parallel lines and vivid contrasts, left a lasting impression on her. Her work often explores themes of humanity, resilience, and interconnectedness, offering viewers a window into her inner reflections.
“Remya’s work is a meditation on the porousness of borders—between land and water, self and other, memory and moment. She paints not to possess, but to connect: to the feminine, the elderly, the child, and the quiet resilience that binds generations. Her empathy is tactile, shaped by the warmth of her grandparents’ guidance and the strength it lent her in adulthood”, says curator Georgina Maddox.
“Each brushstroke is a return—a quiet journey back to the rivers of my childhood, the warmth of my grandparents’ home, and the stories that shaped me. Voyage of the Soul is not just about memory; it’s about presence, about finding beauty in the everyday and honoring the invisible threads that connect us all”, says artist Remya Brijesh.
To Remya, art is omnipresent—a quiet companion that has walked beside her from her father’s studio to her own. In Voyage of the Soul, she charts not just a journey through place, but through feeling, offering viewers a chance to pause, reflect, and perhaps find fragments of their own story mirrored in hers. She has produced an impressive body of work comprising nearly 60 artworks. For this exhibition, the artist and the curator present a carefully curated selection that highlights her most resonant and conceptually mature expressions.
Profile: Remya Brijesh
Remya Brijesh is an artist and art educator based in Gurugram, whose practice is deeply rooted in observation, nature, and the quiet strength of visual storytelling. A passionate teacher and a keen observer of beauty in the everyday, she draws enduring inspiration from the natural world—its forms, rhythms, and colors shaping the language of her art.
Born in Ottapalam, Kerala, and raised in Attingal near Kilimanoor—the birthplace of Raja Ravi Varma—Remya’s artistic lineage is steeped in the rhythms of riverbanks and ancestral soil. Her father, the late Shri K. Chandrahasan, a distinguished painter and alumnus of the College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum, sowed the earliest seeds of her creative spirit. Today, Remya carries forward that legacy with a brush that listens as much as it speaks.
Her artworks have been exhibited across India, reflecting a creative journey that honors tradition while embracing freedom and transformation.
