Venue: 47 A Khotachiwadi

Description: Mentoring Magic at 47 A is a powerful showcase curated by Srila Chatterjee. The 5 day exhibition will feature the transformative journeys of nine traditional artisans and practitioners of tribal art forms like Gond, Bhil, and Madhubani—who have evolved into contemporary artists through a unique mentorship program led by designer Aditi Prakash. Through a series of immersive workshops focused on upskilling, storytelling, and experimentation with materials and mediums, each artist has developed a distinct voice while retaining the soul of their heritage. The show starts from 25th of June celebrates the spirit of empowerment, community, and the idea that progress is most meaningful when shared.

Artists Participating:

1) SANDEEP DHURVE, GOND ARTIST, MADHYA PRADESH

Sandeep blends traditional Gond art with a contemporary lens, using layered textures and limited color palettes. Through Project Tarasha’s mentorship, he developed striking series like UnderwaterMushroom, and Insects, inspired by nature.

2) PREETI DAS, MADHUBANI ARTIST, BIHAR

Preeti redefined her Madhubani practice after joining Project Tarasha, creating a unique series inspired by Sanchi. With stronger visualization and a contemporary approach, her work now reflects both tradition and innovation.

3) HEMRAJ BHABOR, BHIL ARTIST, MADHYA PRADESH

Hemraj brings his Bhil roots to life through detailed depictions of animals and insects. His slow, intricate style and modern take on cultural motifs were refined during Project Tarasha’s mentorship.

About 47 A:

47-A is a gallery for design. In the world of Baro Market, we trace the lines between craft, art and design and find them increasingly blurred; 47-A delves into all of these and presents shows that are deeply researched and brilliantly curated, through the lens of design. Our aim is to showcase fine design, to educate and inform, to debate and discuss and to shine a light on the finest craft, art and design that we discover. We are specially connected to the heritage village of Khotachi Wadi in Girgaum, Bombay that the gallery is housed in, and are deeply committed to conserving the community, and engaging meaningfully with its history, people and design.
