This weekend we have got, not one, but two big budget films fans have been waiting for ever since their inception. And there is no such thing as ‘choose-any-one’ because both the films are stellar and are making their ways to claim the crown of blockbusters.
ZERO
It is the time to meet Bauua, the vertically challenged dwarf (Shah Rukh Khan), wheelchair-ridden Aafia suffering from cerebral palsy (Anushka Sharma) and Babita Kumari, the Bollywood superstar with an alcohol addiction (Katrina Kaif) on the screens.
Talking about Zero, director Aanand L Rai said, ‘Zero is about the incompleteness of any form – be it emotional or physical. But it has nothing to do with happiness. The film is about ‘let’s celebrate life in any form’. This film makes me feel very dreamy. I being on a wheelchair can be a happier person than you. It is about accepting all the flaws and weaknesses and celebrating life. It is about romancing life not surviving. Don’t survive… live.’
It is a film about preconceived notions and the entire film is meant to be a fable, a story about Bauua, Babita and Aafia. The Jab Tak Hai Jaan trio once again creates magic with love and their unconventional characters. Right from the story, to background score to the dialogues the film is a flat-out fantastic and the unabashed charm of SRK is dashed hard to deny. Fascinating
Anushka infuses a strong sense of pride into her character, a serious space scientist who has given her heart away while the character of Katrina, even if she has a very little amount of screen space in the movie, convinces you that why she is in the A-list of Bollywood. On the other hand, the attraction of the movie Bauua Singh sings romances and dances his difficulties away. A complete fun and entertaining film with many punch-lines and power packed acting to keep you gripped till the end.

KGF (Kolar Gold Fields)
KGF is the first ever movie of its kind. It is the first ever Kannada film to be released in 5 languages (Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi), and right from its first trailer, it soared high on all the charts across the country. The period drama revolves around the underworld and highlights how the ambitious Rocky (Yash) desires to become the richest and most powerful man in Mumbai.
The slow motions, camera angles and background scores make you feel that they re meant for the hero, making it the biggest mass entertainer of the year. Adding to the story and the splendid promising acting by the star-cast and a strong narration by one and only Anant Nag, KGF has been the talk of the town for its impressively-mounted sets and stellar editing and VFX and composer Ravi Basrur lifts up the scenes with his terrific background orchestra.
The power-hungry youngster, Rocky, lives up to what his mother says, ‘die as the richest and the strongest man’. He sets out as fate takes him to Bangalore and then lands in the bloody mines of the Kolar Gold Field.
The story of the young boy uprooting the system in Mumbai and the Kolar gold field lets Yash make a big statement along with the leading lady Srinidhi Shetty. Clearly, for the KGF team, cinema is bigger than anything else and the grandeur lies in telling a fantastically gripping story, thus this one is hard to miss.
Written and directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, the blockbuster is made under the banner Hombale films. It is the first instalment in the two-part series, followed by K.G.F: Chapter 2.
