With a subject that celebrated the shocking and extreme essence of camp as a feeling, it should come as no wonder that the looks at the 2019 Met Gala were not for the faint of emotion, with renowned red carpet victors, Lady Gaga, Billy Porter and Celine Dion lazing and showing out at the annual event on Monday night in New York City.
The Met Gala took place this year on 6th May. Each year a different dress code is chosen as the theme of the nightfall to tie in with the show opening. This year theme was ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion.’ The theme in enthused by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay ‘Notes on ‘Camp’, which is broadly believed to have brought the idea of ‘camp’ to the majority. So you can expect lots of hyperbolic shapes and OTT cutting.
