A Four-Artist Exhibition Exploring Human Emotions, Nature and Hope

ArtKriti’s group exhibition, Threshold of Traces: Stitched with an Amber Thread, brings together four contemporary artists — Siddharth Jharia, Soumick Nag, Sonia Sareen and Gaurav Chawla. The exhibition features watercolour paintings, landscapes, sculptures and abstract works, exploring themes of change, human emotions, destruction and hope.

The exhibition was inaugurated at the Visual Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, in the presence of Naresh Kapuria, eminent artist; Sunit Tandon, art historian, author, actor and curator; and Rajiv Dutta, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India.

The exhibition explores how life, nature and human emotions are connected. Through different art forms, the four artists show how experiences of pain, change and loss can also lead to growth and new beginnings.

The title Threshold of Traces refers to the changes we experience as we move from one stage of life to another. A trace is a mark or memory left behind by an experience. The amber thread symbolises healing and continuity. Just as amber forms around a wound and preserves light within it, the exhibition suggests that even difficult experiences can become a source of strength and hope.

“Threshold of Traces is a reminder that when we break open, we do not empty out. We bloom,” said Gaurav Chawla, artist and founder of ArtKriti. “Each of these four artists works in a different medium and style, but they explore a shared experience — the point where pain and light come together.”

Siddharth Jharia, through his watercolour paintings in Traces of the Flesh, explores the human body and its emotions. His figures appear delicate and incomplete, capturing moments of change and vulnerability. The transparent nature of watercolour adds depth and light to his works.

Soumick Nag, in The Weathered Terrain, presents landscapes shaped by natural forces and change. Using mainly Vandyke brown and black, he creates powerful images of valleys and uneven terrain. His paintings reflect the tension between control and unpredictability, much like the changing forces of nature.

Sonia Sareen, through her sculptures in The Ruin & The Bloom, explores the relationship between destruction and growth. Her forms move between the human body and the landscape, showing how something broken can also become a place of shelter and renewal. Her work suggests that new life can emerge from difficult experiences.

Gaurav Chawla, who is also exhibiting as an artist, presents abstract paintings in The Volcanic Core. Created through bold strokes and layers of paint, his works capture the energy of volcanic eruptions and the force of change. His paintings reflect moments of tension and release, where light emerges from chaos.

Together, the four artists present different perspectives on life, nature and transformation. Although they work with different materials and techniques, their art shares a common message: every experience leaves a mark, and even through uncertainty and change, there is always the possibility of renewal and hope.

Threshold of Traces: Stitched with an Amber Thread invites visitors to look beyond what is visible and discover the stories, emotions and possibilities hidden within each work of art. The opening was well attended by art lovers, including Alka Bhurshdandi and Neerja Peters, along with several other guests.
