Mumbai Airport Celebrates Ganpati Palkhi Sohala, Bringing Maharashtra’s Festive Spirit to Travellers

Mumbai, 22 September 2026: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with a vibrant Ganpati Palkhi Sohala at Terminal 2, bringing alive the rich traditions and festive spirit of Maharashtra for passengers, visitors and the airport community. The celebration featured a total of around 230 performers who showcased an array of traditional art forms, transforming the terminal into a lively expression of Maharashtra’s culture and festive heritage.

The celebrations came alive with the participation of around 150 students from Adani Foundation’s NRC School, Kalyan, who showcased vibrant Lezim and traditional dance performances. Adding to the festive atmosphere, 60 local artists presented energetic Dhol Tasha and Lezim acts, filling the terminal with the rich rhythms and cultural spirit of Maharashtra.

The celebrations also featured the traditional Varkari Dindi, adding a devotional and cultural dimension to the Palkhi, along with a dynamic Daan Patta performance, showcasing the rich martial heritage and traditions of the state. Together, the performances created a lively and immersive celebration, bringing the colours, sounds and traditions of Maharashtra to the heart of Mumbai Airport.

Enhancing the festive atmosphere, attendees were greeted with the traditional tying of pheta, while modak prasad was distributed among passengers, visitors, airport staff, and other stakeholders.

As one of the key gateways to the city and Maharashtra, Mumbai Airport used the occasion to offer travellers a glimpse into the region’s vibrant festive traditions, particularly during the Ganeshotsav season when the city comes alive with celebrations. Through such cultural experiences, the airport continues to showcase Mumbai not only as a gateway to the world, but also as a destination rich in traditions, experiences and celebrations that visitors can discover.

The Ganpati Palkhi Sohala at Mumbai Airport Terminal 2 brought passengers, visitors and the wider airport community together in a shared celebration of Maharashtra’s vibrant traditions, offering travellers a memorable introduction to the spirit of Mumbai during its festive season while fostering a sense of cultural connection and community.
