Off The Record returns to Gaijin this month, bringing back its mid-week vinyl ritual where the restaurant settles into a slower, more intentional rhythm. Conceptualised by partners Chef Anand Morwani, Rohan Mangalorkar, and Karan Gaba, the series celebrates vinyl not as nostalgia or décor, but as a way of listening. It’s an invitation to step away from the endless scroll and immerse yourself in music as it was meant to be heard.

Featured Artists

For its latest edition on Wednesday, July 29, Off The Record welcomes Bhish and Roan Sable, two selectors whose shared love for house and techno comes through in distinctly different ways.

Bhish, founder of Regenerate, one of India’s longest-running underground music collectives and the force behind Far Out Left and Room 303, brings a sound rooted in both old and new schools of house and techno. His sets weave together warm analogue textures, acid lines, and deep, hypnotic grooves, shaped by years spent on some of the world’s most respected dancefloors, from Tresor and The Bunker NY to Room 303 and Far Out Left.

Joining him is Roan Sable, whose selections lean into the obscure and unexpected. Blending minimal grooves, funky vocal cuts, and classic ’90s house with forward-thinking sounds, his sets move effortlessly between nostalgia and discovery, creating dancefloors that feel equally playful and deeply immersive.

The Experience

Together, the two artists soundtrack an evening built for intentional listening, powered by Gaijin Radio and the restaurant’s rare Donley sound system, a handcrafted analogue setup that transforms every vinyl record into a rich, tactile experience where every stylus drop becomes part of the ritual.

Beyond the music, Gaijin’s alleyway comes alive with neon-lit Tokyo-inspired visuals, Rakugaki graffiti, Kawaii doodles, vintage film posters, and a dedicated outdoor bar serving inventive cocktails throughout the night.

In a city that rarely slows down, Off The Record offers a rare pause, where vinyl, conversation, and carefully curated music take centre stage.
